Paisley
Collection
Etro tradition flourishes with the palm of the cashmere design, an ancient decorative feature born in Mesopotamia, where it symbolised the shoot of the date palm, considered to all effects and purposes the tree of life. The palm tree, which was conceived as a decorative feature on precious hand-woven Indian fabrics, flourished until being adopted for the shawls of Nineteenth-century ladies. Given that passions positively cry out for collections, it is only natural for Etro to have a collection of one hundred and fifty cashmere design shawls dating from 1810 to 1880. The originality of this old collection inspired the birth of Paisley, the common thread that runs throughout all the collections from 1984 to the present. The classic palm foliage has become the preferred means of making technological explorations and daring experiments: the cashmere design is illuminated with pop hues, fossilised in lunar prints, pulverised in embroidery with crystal fragments, sectioned into small samples and plastified in glass-bags. This is the story of an ancient decorative motif which, season after season, collection after collection, flourishes on fabrics, trailing all its magic in its wake.
Paisley Collection for Her
A foppish little palm decides to cover every kind of texture: from the most resistant to the lightest fabrics, playing with finishing touches whilst maintaining a classic range of colours. The natural leather edging is a catch-all element that is classic and traditional. The coloured ones featuring a range of harmonies embellish a special collection with new energies.
Paisley Collection for Him
The hallmark is resistance, the challenge against time has been won from the outset. The delicate little palm of the cashmere design displays all its unexpected strength. The textile to which it is entrusted is a double-layer coated cotton: this is the starting point for suitcases, trolley bags, handbags and accessories with a classic design and priceless craftsmanship.
Paisley Ink
The colour and fluidity of ink spill over the accessories of the Paisley Ink collection. The sleek palmetto motif of the cashmere design paints its harmonious forms in black, the classic ramage motif surrenders to the allure of experimentation. The resin-coated fabric challenges time, the minutely studied details are those of classic luxury while the typical artisan flair of Made in Italy makes the handles and finishings unique. Basic black conquers the world of Paisley in a ton-sûr-ton collection devoid of contrasting volutes, but where the simple yet never austere monochrome palette adds balance and creates perfect order.
