In a celebration of art, fashion and music, the 22nd edition of the Life Ball Aids Solidarity Gala recently took place in the heart of Vienna, raising vital funds to combat AIDS.
Following on from the historical Austrian traditions, the event has become one of the most extravagant and opulent occasions on the calendar, boasting a charitable focus, themed masked ball and various artistic presentations. L’Uomo Vogue organized a menswear fashion show, showcasing the best of European design talent. The show featured high profile designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Dsquared2 as well as Kean Etro, who presented a selection of looks from archive Autumn Winter collections. In an artistic collaboration with his wife Constanza Cavalli Etro, the models took to the catwalk wearing bespoke “Magik Masks”, using handcrafted art forms to raise awareness about the Huichol people and the beauty of the UNESCO protected Wirikuta desert. Top models such as Rob Evans, Shaun Ross and Austrian Werner Schreyer stepped in to the spotlight, showing off sleek eveningwear and sharp tuxedos in style.
More than 50,000 people attended the event, uniting endless nations in the same cause: the fight for life in its fullest form. The atmosphere was electric as guests explored the curated gardens and luxurious Viennese palaces, creating the perfect balance of valued heritage and contemporary design.
